Frequently Asked Questions
An expedition cruise is a small-ship voyage designed for exploration rather than entertainment. Instead of mega-ships with thousands of passengers, expedition vessels typically carry 100–200 guests and can access remote destinations like Antarctica, the Arctic, and the Galápagos. Onboard naturalists and expedition leaders guide zodiac landings, wildlife encounters, and educational programming — it's an immersive travel experience, not a floating resort.
For Antarctica, we recommend booking 12–18 months ahead for the best cabin selection, especially during peak season (December–January). Arctic Norway and Galápagos voyages benefit from 8–12 months of lead time. Popular itineraries and suites sell out quickly, so early planning gives you the widest range of options. That said, occasional last-minute availability does appear — reach out and we'll let you know what's open.
Within 48 hours, Nicci will personally reach out to discuss your travel goals, preferred dates, and interests. From there, she'll research the best expedition options and present a privately curated itinerary tailored to your needs — including vessel recommendations, cabin comparisons, and pricing. There's no pressure; the goal is to help you make a confident, informed decision.
Absolutely. Modern expedition ships are equipped with stabilizers, medical facilities, and accessibility features. Many operators offer family-friendly departures with dedicated youth programs. For older travelers, zodiac boarding procedures are well-supervised, and most ships offer a range of activity levels — from active hiking and kayaking to gentler options like onboard lectures and scenic cruising.
Most expedition cruises include your cabin, all meals and beverages onboard, zodiac excursions, expert-led lectures, and cold-weather gear (like parkas and boots on polar voyages). International airfare, travel insurance, and pre/post-trip hotel stays are typically separate — but we can coordinate all of those details for a seamless door-to-door experience.
Yes! We coordinate complete travel logistics including flights to gateway cities like Ushuaia, Buenos Aires, or Longyearbyen, as well as pre- and post-expedition hotel stays. We can also arrange extensions — such as a few days exploring Buenos Aires or a safari add-on — to make the most of your journey.
